I can’t sing or dance and my golf game is terrible, but I love being a storyteller. I’ve written about all kinds of things in the world of human health: Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, oncology, orthopedics, HIV and AIDS, ophthalmology, clinical trials and more. I’ve also written about technology, in healthcare and telecommunications. And I enjoy working with Subject Matter Experts – the healers, educators, technicians and philanthropists who are the agents of change and the angels walking among us in this crazy world.
My writing is always conceived in strategy and executed with honesty and accuracy. I write in AP, AMA or client-specific styles. I write for SEO, SEM, B2B and B2C, and I understand that the content I create must result in profitable consumer action.
I’ve written every type of short and long-form copy: Social media, SEO web copy, landing pages, white papers, eBooks, blog posts, product descriptions, email campaigns and traditional media executions, and I’m comfortable writing, reviewing and adapting content for different audiences. I’ve also demonstrated an ability to successfully translate technical product features and concepts into clear, compelling and consumer-friendly benefit copy.
Tight deadlines and demanding clients don’t scare me. Before beginning an assignment, I like to understand what it’s for – what problem it’s intended to solve, what the client needs to say and to whom, and what the reader “take-aways” are. I like to work with briefs, and if not supplied I will often bang one out and submit it for approval before writing or interviewing anyone. On creative assignments, I don’t just "think outside the box," I make the box sit in the corner and feel terrible about itself while I write some killer copy.
